Help raise money for the Minnesota chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.  Join the Humanists of MN team for the NAMI Fundraising Walk on September 27th at Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis.

Please register by clicking on this link.  Registration through NAMI helps them plan for the event and brings recognition to our Humanists of MN team and involvement.  Or, if you aren't able to walk, please make a donation to one of our walkers as you are able on this webpage.--

This annual 5k walk is to promote awareness of mental illness and support NAMI's education and advocacy work. When you register be sure to select Humanists of Minnesota as your team.  If you can't walk but want to support the effort, you can donate to one of our team members to reach our goal of $1000 for NAMI.

Check-in begins at 11:30am with the actual walk commencing at 1pm.  Meet fellow Humanists at the band shell and speakers stage between noon and 1pm.  Before the Walk begins speakers, music and activities will educate, inspire and entertain the thousands of participants.

As an advocacy organization, NAMI commits to:

• Treat every person who contacts NAMI Minnesota with dignity, empathy and respect, recognizing that he or she is a person first, not a diagnosis

• Recognize the biological nature of mental illnesses and work to dispel stigma

• Provide accurate information, tools, guidance and hope so that people can advocate for themselves and their families

Planned Parenthood Solidarity Day, 10am-3pm, March 25, 2016

Stand in solidarity with Planned Parenthood! Join fellow humanists and PP advocates at the Vandalia Street health center to support critical health care services in our region.   (Wear your Humanists of MN t-shirt if you have one.)

Every year on "Good Friday," thousands of anti-Planned Parenthood protesters descend on the Vandalia Street health center. Their goal is to shut down the clinics and prevent women from accessing safe and legal abortion. But we won’t let them win. Let's show the protesters that while they may be loud, they are not in the majority.

PROGRAM: Solidarity Day will feature live music, religious services, a photobooth, food trucks, storytelling, games, and the opportunity to Pledge a Protestor or buy a t-shirt to support clinical services at the Vandalia health center.

RSVP: Please RSVP ( so PP has a sense of how many people are planning to stop by throughout the day. You are welcome to come at any time, for any length of time, and bring anyone along with you!

TRANSPORT: The Vandalia Street health center is accessible via the Green Line as well as 16 and 87 bus routes.  It is recommended to take public transportation, ride your bike, or carpool, as the ramp on site cannot accommodate everyone. Parking is recommended west of Pillsbury Street on Hampden, Carleton, Raymond and other streets.

Oklahoma Tornado Relief, May 2013

Monetary contributions to aid organizations already in the area are the best way to help in the aftermath of this tragedy in Moore, OK. The Humanist Crisis Response program of Foundation Beyond Belief serves as a focal point for the humanist response to major humanitarian crises. Its purpose is twofold: to bring resources to those in desperate need, and to raise awareness of that need in the humanist community and beyond.

The Humanist Crisis Program is directing contributions to Operation USA and Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. Humanists of Minnesota encourages its members and friends to contribute as you are able.

Earth Day of Action:  Rally and Lobby for Clean Energy and Jobs

Monday, April 22nd, 2013
Minnesota State Capitol
Lobby Day registration and orientation @ 9:30am
Earth Day Rally @ 2:45pm in capitol rotunda

Answer Gov. Dayton's call to build a sustainable energy future for our state. Join a coalition of environmental groups on Earth Day, Monday, April 22 as people from across MN come together at the state capitol to support clean energy and good jobs!

People will gather in the Rotunda at 2:45pm for the Rally.  Look for the "Humanists of Minnesota" sign if you want to connect with me and fellow humanists.

For those who have the time and interest to meet with your legislators, join the lobbying effort.  Registration begins at 9:30am at Christ Lutheran Church, 104 University Ave. West--just kitty-corner from the capitol.  After some orientation to the day's lobbying efforts, people will meet with their respective legislators in constituent delegations.

Freedom to Marry Day Rally

3pm, February 14th, 2013
MN State Capitol Rotunda

Come stand with fellow humanists and raise our banner (literally and figuratively) in support of the LGBT community. Organized by Minnesotans United, this rally will bring together proponents of same-sex marriage to advocate for changing the marriage law in Minnesota that now prohibits such unions. The Freedom to Marry Day Rally is intended as a key first step in meeting that goal in 2013!

Last fall, Humanists of MN voiced our opposition to the marriage amendment which, if passed, would have made this legislative initiative impossible. Now is the time once again to join with people of good will throughout the state to help spread our humanist values and press our legislators to do the right thing. Many different groups will be there including those from the faith community. Humanists should also be out in force.

Here are a couple of links that we as Humanists can use to send aid to Haiti.
